Guide for Getting a Good Night’s Sleep
Welcome to Uninterrupted Sleep
This website is your online resource to gain knowledge and understanding about sleep and sleep disorders.
Most people know how bad they can feel after a night of interrupted sleep compared to a night of uninterrupted sleep. Everyone suffers from lack of sleep from time to time; however, there are others with whom sleep is elusive night after night. In fact, it is estimated that about 50 to 70 million Americans suffer from a sleep disorder that manifests itself in a lack of restful sleep. When this happens, it can lead to many problems including chronic fatigue, poor performance at work, and the development of unhealthy ways to sleep. In fact, all those sleepless nights can put you at risk of serious medical conditions including obesity, heart disease and diabetes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about 4 percent of people have indicated that they’ve had a sleep-related accident at some point in their lives. This translates to more than 100,000 crashes that are reported to the police each year, leading to about 1,550 deaths, countless more injuries and approximately $12.5 billion in lost revenue, medical costs, and disability. Clearly, many people need help in getting to sleep and staying asleep at night. The purpose of this website is to raise awareness about the problems of lack of sleep and sleep disorders and the importance of sleep for the nation’s overall health. More sleep equals a better feeling of wellbeing and better health overall.
